Do I have to be a member to come to a club ride?

All Florida Freewheelers rides (with the exception of the Florida Bicycle Safari and the Horrible Hundred) are free and open to members and the general public.  Our ride schedule for the next 7 days is available to the public on our web site under the Rides tab.

If you’re new to cycling and/or new to the club, call the contact person listed for the ride you want.  This person can give you a good idea of what to expect on the ride, such as terrain, traffic, speed, what to bring and what to wear.

 Helmets are required on all Florida Freewheelers rides.

Do I have to wear a helmet on club rides?

Yes.  Helmets are mandatory and headphones are prohibited on any Florida Freewheelers ride. 

The use of radios and sound devices is discouraged.

How can I retrieve my lost username or password?

To retrieve a lost password or username :

Click on Forgot your password? or Forgot your username? in the login area.

How do I join the Florida Freewheelers?

To join the Florida Freewheelers you must first fill out the New Member Registration form.

Select the Join tab from top menu and then New Member Registration.

Enter in the fields as indicated and click continue, then complete the next page, scan the verification page and click Submit Payment.  You can fill in your credit card info on the secure payment page. The Annual Dues are $30 Individual and $40 Family.

Once your payment has been processed you will receive an email confirmation and a separate credit card receipt.

You can now enjoy the benefits and fun of being a member of FFW

How do I sign up for ride update emails?

Members can sign up and receive emails when rides get updated, canceled, etc. by following the procedure below :

Login to the web site.

Click on My Account on the top menu and choose Change Profile.

Scroll down to the Ride Notifications section.

Enter the information requested.

Click Update.

You will now receive emails whenever a ride in the category selected is updated.

I need to change my email address, phone number, etc?

To change any of the information we have on file for you including your email address.

Select the My Account tab after you have logged in and click on Change Profile.

All the fields will be pre-populated with your current membership information, make any changes as needed.

Then click Update.

I received a renewal notice; how do I renew online?

To renew your membership in the Florida Freewheelers you must first fill out the Membership Renewal form. You must be logged in to use this form.

Select the Join tab from top menu and then Membership Renewal.

All the fields will be pre-populated with your current membership information, make any changes as needed, scan the verification page and click Submit Payment.

You can fill in your credit card info on the secure payment page.

Once your payment has been processed you will receive an email confirmation and a separate credit card receipt.

You can now continue to enjoy the benefits and fun of being a member of FFW

What are the different types of rides?

The Florida Freewheelers' rides are divided into categories so that you know what type of ride, it's length, speed and other info you should expect when you show up.

A -
20+ mph: Experienced Riders Only. Be able to read a map and change a flat. Very fast to racing pace.
B -
17 - 21 mph: Experienced Riders Only. Be able to read a map, change a flat, and ride 20 miles not-stop.
C -
15 - 18 mph: Be able to read a map and change a flat, but don't be upset if you get dropped.
D -
12 - 15 mph: No-Drop ride. Ride leader and sweep will make sure no rider is dropped.
S -
10 - 15 mph: Leisurely, social ride. Distance varies. Ride leader will make sure no rider is dropped.
T -
Tourist: Longer Rides at a slower pace. Be able to read a map, change a flat. Don't be upset if you get dropped.

What should I do if I'm not getting an email when the newsletter is available?

If you’re not receiving your newsletter or need to check on your membership status contact us using the web site Contact Us feature under the Help tab.

When will I get my membership card?

All Florida Freewheelers receive a membership card.  We send out two cards per family.  You should receive your cards within two weeks after you join or renew.  Please use the Contact Us feature under the Help tab of the web site if you did not receive your card.

Who can post to the Forum?

The Forum is for Florida Freewheelers members only.

If you are a member you have access to to read and post to the Forum when you are logged into the site.

Non-members can only read Forum posts.
